Welcome to one of the few certified municipal health departments in Illinois! As the 2nd oldest, established in 1847, Evanston’s Health & Human Services Department has a proud legacy of leadership in public health. We collaborate with local, state, and national partners as part of a global network committed to safeguarding the health and well-being of Evanston residents. 

Our department’s dedicated team includes Human Services, Communicable Disease, Workforce Development, Ombudsman, Emergency Preparedness, and Environmental Health. They work together to deliver impactful programs and services, ranging from inspections and pest control to sexual health access, mental health resources, job resources, and more! 

We continually assess and address the evolving needs of our community to build a stronger, healthier Evanston for all to enjoy!
