New Residents
Welcome to the City of Evanston
We're glad you're here! This website, along with our 3-1-1 Service Center, is your go-to guide for policies, resources, events, and more! Click through the following information to learn more about your new community.
Board, Commission, Committee (BCC) volunteers impact every corner of our community and greatly advance our shared vision of making Evanston "the most livable city." BCC members participate in discussions that affect and shape the future of our City. As a citizen of Evanston, you are strongly encouraged to submit an application for appointment because the impact of BCCs is only possible due to the engagement of our thoughtful and committed citizenry. Serving on a BCC can be a rewarding experience and a great way to make a contribution to improving our community.
There are over 30 active boards, commissions, and committees. It is the responsibility of the Mayor of Evanston to review applications and recommend appointments to Boards, Committees and Commissions. Appointment applications are presented to the City Council for consideration and approval. After City Council approval, citizens begin their service to our community. Attempts are made to make appointments that represent the diverse population of Evanston.
