Whether you’re swimming, strolling, picnicking, or simply watching the sunrise, the Evanston lakefront is a place to relax, play, and connect with nature. Evanston is home to six beaches, including Clark Street Beach, Greenwood Street Beach, Lee Street Beach, Lighthouse Beach, South Boulevard Beach, and Lincoln Street Beach (operated by Northwestern University.

Beach Status

During certain conditions, swimming is prohibited at one or more of Evanston’s beaches, but admittance to the beach (sandy area) is still allowed. At other times, both the water and the beach areas are closed for your safety.
