Office of Professional Standards
The Office of Professional Standards (OPS) provides two separate functions: inspections and internal investigations.
Inspections: evaluate the quality of the Department operations, ensuring that the agency's goals are being pursued and that control is maintained throughout the Department. This component also performs audits of personnel sick time usage in order to identify potential abusers, audits the records of the various cash funds kept in the Department, audits use of the Department's main telephone line, and performs other audits and studies as directed by the Chief of Police.
Internal Investigations: investigate allegations of misconduct made against the Department or its employees by citizens or other employees of the Department/City.
Planning and research are responsible for the analysis of crime statistics, maintaining the written directive system, completing the annual report, and accreditation compliance.
