Sustainability & Resilience

Evanston has a longstanding commitment to sustainability, climate action, and livability. In 2018, the Evanston City Council formally adopted the Climate Action and Resilience Plan (CARP), which, among other things, establishes a community carbon neutrality goal, a zero-waste goal, and a 100% renewable electricity goal. For more information about CARP, please visit our Climate Change page.

The City is leading an Environmental Equity Investigation to include community members in environmental decisions, create strategies for equity and restoration, and educate and foster environmental equity. Learn more and get involved with the EEI.
