Resident Beach Access

Season Beach Passes

• Passes are available beginning on Monday, April 14, 2025
• Season beach passes are free to Evanston community members who reside in 60201 and 60202.
  • Skokie residents living in 60203 do not qualify for free beach passes
• Beach passes are required to enter the swimming beaches
• Replacement (lost or stolen) passes are $10 each

How do I obtain a free beach pass?

All beach patrons must present a season beach pass or daily ticket to enter the beach. IDs will not be accepted at beach entrances. Proof of residency for each person in a household is required to obtain a beach pass. No pass is required for children under the age of one.

Acceptable forms of identification to receive a beach pass:

• Driver’s License or State ID
• Mortgage
• Title or lease agreement. If sharing a lease agreement, a second form of ID with the Evanston address is required.
• Utility bill
• Tax Return
• Voter registration card
• Vehicle registration
• District 65 free or reduced lunch letter
• ETHS or D65 Student ID

Children will need to show a current report card, school picture ID, parent insurance card listing dependents, tax return document, or other form of ID a parent may have that proves Evanston residency.

College-age adult children (ages 18–20) may be eligible if their primary residence is in Evanston and they can provide proof of residency, such as a government-issued ID listing an Evanston address.

Adult children aged 21 and over who reside in the household must pick up their beach passes in person.

Non-Resident Beach Admission

• The season beach pass is valid from the time of purchase until the end of the season.
• This pass is non-transferable and allows admittance to any of the five public swimming beaches in the City of Evanston.
• Admission is free for children under age one.
• To obtain Skokie rates, proof of Skokie residency is required. (zip codes 60203, 60076, 60077)
• Replacement (lost or stolen) passes are $10 each
• Season beach passes are non-refundable

Non-Resident Daily Beach Ticket

• Daily tickets can be purchased at beach entrances or at the Dempster St. Beach Office 
• Daily tickets are non-transferable and allows admittance to any of the five public swimming beaches in the City of Evanston.
• Admission is free for children under age one.
• Physical daily tickets are not available at the community centers.
• Daily tickets can be purchased in person at the following facilities during office hours during the beach season.
  • Dempster Street Beach Office, 1251 Lake Shore Bld.
  • Clark Street Beach Office, 1811 Sheridan Rd.
• To obtain Skokie rates, proof of Skokie residency is required (zip codes 60203, 60076, 60077)
• Daily tickets are non-refundable

Guest Beach Tickets for Evanston Residents

This program allows Evanston residents to purchase a discounted daily ticket for their visiting guests.  Guest tickets may be purchased ahead of time or at the time of use (see below for purchase locations). Guest tickets are non-refundable. 

• Ticket Information:

  • $5 per ticket

  • Each Evanston household is limited to a maximum of 20 tickets per season.

• Eligibility:

  • Only community members residing in zip codes 60201 or 60202 are eligible to purchase guest beach tickets.

  • A guest ticket must be purchased directly by the Evanston resident.  Guests do not need to be physically present. 

• In-person Purchase Only:

  • Tickets can be purchased anywhere season beach passes are sold.

  • Please bring proof of residency when making the purchase.

D65/D202 Students and Families who live OUTSIDE of 60201 or 60202

Students enrolled in District 65 or District 202 and their household members are eligible to receive free beach passes. The student must be enrolled (or going to be in the Fall) in either District 65 or District 202 (ETHS). Proof of enrollment is required. Acceptable forms of proof include: An official letter of enrollment from the school or report card. 

Each household member wishing to receive a free beach pass must provide proof that they reside with the student. Adults must provide one of the following, a driver’s license or state ID, tax return document, utility bill, vehicle registration, lease agreement, mortgage with an address that matches the student’s address listed on the school enrollment form or a report card.

Northwestern University Students

• Northwestern University students must bring a current school year student ID to receive a free season beach pass.
• NU staff and faculty are not eligible for free beach passes and must follow the standard resident or non-resident process to obtain them.
