About:
For over 140 years, the Evanston Health & Human Services Department has protected the community during public health emergencies. While our work once focused primarily on infectious disease outbreaks, our role has expanded to address a wide range of threats, including extreme weather, biological hazards, and epidemics and pandemics.

Our approach emphasizes mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery, supported through strong partnerships with City agencies, regional organizations, and community members. These partnerships ensure a coordinated and effective community response to public health emergencies.

Medical Reserve Corps (MRC)
One key way residents can get involved is through the Evanston Medical Reserve Corps (MRC), a volunteer group open to anyone interested in supporting community health—no medical background required. If you are interested or know someone who might be, please email us at EvanstonMRC@cityofevanston.org or call (847)448-4311
