Hop into Spring at the Annual Arboretum Egg Hunt! Explore the Ladd Arboretum as you search for hidden eggs, then stick around for a variety of festive activities. Families can enjoy entertainment, games, face painting, and arts and crafts stations. All children must be registered in advance. Accompanying adults attend for free. Celebrate Earth Week with the City of Evanston through a full week of hands-on, family-friendly experiences that connect you to nature, sustainability, and community. On Saturday, April 25, join us from 10 AM - 2 PM at the Evanston Ecology Center for a day of action and celebration, complete with arts & crafts, farmers' market, and volunteer opportunities.

From Monday through Friday, explore a different theme each day: Plant & Pollinate, Water & Wetlands, Wildlife & Habitat, Farm to Fork, and Repair Cafe. Enjoy guided nature walks, interactive workshops, creative activities for kids, and opportunities to learn from local experts and community partners. Highlights include native plant giveaways, birding walks, composting demonstrations, macroinvertebrate exploration, and a Repair Café where you can fix and reuse everyday items.

Come celebrate the joys of the fall season at Eggleston Park during our fall Harvest Festival! Go on a tour of the Farmette, Bee Apiary, and Food Forest and partake in fall-themed games, a pumpkin patch, a scarecrow making contest, crafts, and more!

This October event is held on a 2-mile course starting in the Ladd Arboretum. The goal of the Zombie Scramble is for you and your team members to finish the race with all of your "lives" intact by outrunning and outwitting the 'Zombie:. Your "lives" are represented by flags hanging off of a flag football belt you will wear. Throughout the course, Zombies will be attempting to grab your flag as you attempt to avoid them. If you lose all of your flags you become "infected" and complete the race as an "infected" person. Rather not be chased by "zombie" but be a "zombie"? We are always looking for zombie volunteers. Our annual Halloween event highlights the creatures that call the North Shore Channel home. Learn fun facts and amazing adaptations of animals that live right here in Evanston. You’ll meet these characters (costumed volunteers) outside as you travel around the Ladd Arboretum. After your adventure, we’ll send you on your way with a fun craft to do at home.
