Water Meter Replacement Program

The Evanston Water Production Bureau has begun performing an upgrade of its Automatic Meter Information (AMI) system, which will take place over the next two years in three sections.

The City has contracted with Water Services Company, Inc. to install/replace the outside remote meter readout unit (MIU) attached to your inside water meter with new devices that are more reliable and have a longer life span. Also, we will need to identify the inside incoming water service line material and complete the City's basic cross-connection control survey.

Some water meters will need to be replaced that are over 15 years old on copper services with a new Neptune water meter.  There is no cost to the customer for the meter and/or MIU replacement.

Residents will receive a notification letter when we are in your area on behalf of the City to call and schedule an appointment with Water Service Company, Inc at 1-800-642-4594. For more information, call/text 847-448-4311 (dial 311 while in Evanston).

Please note: Installers are uniformed personnel who carry Water Services Company, Inc. picture ID badges and travel in Water Services Company, Inc. marked vehicles. See ID pictures of the  installers below. A person 18 years or older must be present during the installation appointment.
