Adult Softball Leagues

Softball LeagueThe Evanston Parks , Recreation and Community  Services offers adult recreation softball leagues. We are looking for teams with members who enjoy playing the game, who are looking to have some fun and who can keep winning and losing in perspective. Most of our leagues are a mix of good, fair and poor teams.

*If no rainouts or cancellations occur, the final date of the leagues will be sooner than the final date listed. This date range includes 3-4 rainout/rescheduled game dates to accommodate Chicago weather.

Rainout Notification: 

The City of Evanston is now utilizing Statusfy to help keep the captains and players in the leagues informed when games have been canceled. There are a few different ways to utilize this resource:

Registration:

Deadlines:

  • Feb 9-April 6, 2026
  • Registration will close when leagues are full.
  • Any leagues that do not have enough teams will be canceled and a full refund will be issued after April 2, 2026.

Registration Guidelines: 

Please Note:  All communications with teams will be made via email. Please update your email address when registering.

Individual Player Registration

  • Please do not register if you do not have a team.
  • Please submit Softball Individual Player List if you are an individual player looking for a team.
  • Captains will be given access to this form and will reach out to you if they need more players.

League Format & Information

  • Mens leagues will play a regular season schedule of 11 games, followed by a single-elimination tournament. Woman’s leagues will play a regular season schedule of 10 games, followed by a single-elimination tournament.
  • The league dates above include the possibility of rain-outs and make ups. The leagues may end earlier than dates provided.
  • Once the league schedule is printed/posted, no changes will be made except in extremely limited circumstances.
  • Double headers may be used in the original schedule for make-up games (to ensure league ends on time).
  • All games will be played on the date, time, and field assigned by the Parks and Recreation Department. We will try to accommodate the regular field assignment. We reserve the right to make changes to that assignment if/when deemed necessary in case of inclement weather, emergency, or other unforeseen circumstances.

Gloves or No Gloves?

  • Women’s League: a hard 14” ball will be used; gloves are necessary.
  • Men’s League: a hard 12” ball will be used; gloves are necessary

Awards:

  • Regular Season: 1st place teams will receive a team trophy
  • Tournament: 1st & 2nd place teams will receive a team trophy
