Ward 7 Ordinance Update
On February 23, 2026, Ordinance 7-O-26 was amended to include the 2600 block of Prairie within its scope. Due to this amendment, Parking District E has been transitioned to Parking District 7.
District 7 Parking Restrictions
Residents who currently hold a District E permit are kindly asked to contact the Customer Service Center located at City Hall, 909 Davis Street, on the first floor to have their permit updated to District 7. There will be no additional charge for this update, as the annual permit fee has already been paid.
To support a smooth transition into the newly established residential parking district, warning citations are issued for one week to help inform residents and visitors of the new parking requirements. For more information, subscribe to the City’s email communications.
Residential parking permits may be purchased at the City Collector’s Office, located at 909 Davis Street on the first floor.
Residents who do not park on the street during restricted hours do not need to obtain a permit if they have alternative off-street parking available. During restricted hours, visitors must obtain a fully completed visitor hang tag and keep it visible from the rearview mirror. Visitor hang tags are also available for purchase at the City Collector’s Office.
The City of Evanston Information Technology Team will upload eligible addresses into the City’s mapping system to enable it to accurately identify qualifying addresses. While this process is underway, residents may continue to purchase permits directly at the City Customer Service Center. To further support awareness, Parking Services will provide informational flyers and place them on parked vehicle windshields within the block.
This block is subject to permitted parking restrictions Monday through Saturday, from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m.
Please note: This area does not include Northwestern University Special Event parking restrictions.
Parking Restrictions District 6
Ordinance 6-O-26 includes the 2700 block of Eastwood and Broadway, which remains available outside of restricted hours. A Parking permit will be required during restricted times, Monday through Saturday, from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m., as well as during Northwestern University Special Events.
Residents and visitors are encouraged to review the permanent street signage installed to reflect these regulations. Parking permits can be obtained at the City’s Collectors’ Office during normal business hours.
To support a smooth transition into the newly established residential parking District 6, warning citations will be issued for one week to help notify residents and visitors of the updated parking requirements. For additional updates and information, community members are encouraged to subscribe to the City’s email communications.
