Legal Aid Chicago (Formerly Legal Assistance Foundation (LAF))

LAF (formerly The Legal Assistance Foundation of Metropolitan Chicago) has a mission to provide high-quality civil legal services to low-income and disadvantaged people and communities. The LAF specializes in areas of poverty law including housing, employment, domestic violence, immigration, public aid, consumer affairs, family law, health and the elderly. The LAF also engages in community legal education presentations and coordinates advocacy efforts with other community groups and agencies.

Just visit www.lafchicago.org and click on "Get Help." The online system is available for people who need legal help with one or more of the following: mortgage foreclosure; unemployment benefits; SNAP benefits; TANF benefits; Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI). People who  need help with other civil legal issues can call our intake line 312-341-1070 starting at 8:00 a.m.
