Thanksgiving Holiday Schedule & Hours

The City has announced changes in service delivery and facility hours in recognition of the 2025 Thanksgiving holiday.

Refuse Collection

No collections will occur on Thursday, November 27. If the holiday falls on or before your collection day, services are expected to be postponed by one day. Friday condo recycling collections will occur on Saturday, November 29. Additionally, no street cleaning will occur on November 27 or 28. 

Yard Waste

Yard waste pick-up will be delayed by one day and operations will resume on November 28.

311

The 311 Center will be closed on Thursday, November 27, and open for regular hours, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., on Friday, November 28.

Facilities

  • The Robert Crown Community Center Library, and the Main Evanston Library Branch will be closed on November 27 and November 28.
  • The Robert Crown Community Center will be closed on November 27. Operations will resume on November 28.
  • The Fleetwood-Jourdain Community Center, Levy Senior Center, Ecology Center, and Noyes Cultural Arts Center will be closed on November 27 and 28.
  • The Morton City Hall, Gibbs-Morrison Cultural Center, and Chandler-Newberger Community Center will be closed from November 27 through November 30. All operations will resume on December 1.
  • The Dr. Jorge and Luz Maria Prieto Community Center will be closing early at 5 p.m. on November 26. Additionally, the Center will be closed November 27 and 28. All operations will resume on November 29. 

Parking

Thanksgiving is a City of Evanston parking holiday. Parking meters/pay boxes and downtown parking garages will be free on Thursday, November 27. In addition, other restricted areas that have signs that prohibit parking except on holidays will be honored.
