2027 Pet Registration Forms Due By December 31
The City reminds dog and cat owners to submit their 2027 Pet Registrations by December 31, 2026.
2027 pet licenses are available for purchase starting Monday, November 2, and renewal letters will be mailed out by November 6. Residents can renew or register a new pet in three ways:
Online (recommended): Renew an existing license or register a new pet through the Evanston V-Pay Pet License Purchasing Portal.
By mail: Download and print the Evanston Pet License Application Form. Mail the completed application with a current rabies vaccination certificate and a check payable to “The City of Evanston” (please do not mail cash) to: Lorraine H. Morton City Hall, City of Evanston – ATTN: City Collector’s Office, 909 Davis Street, Evanston, IL 60201.
In person: Bring a completed application and a current rabies vaccination certificate to any of the following City facilities during their operating hours:
- Robert Crown Community Center, 1801 Main St.
- Dr. Jorge and Luz Maria Prieto Community Center, 430 Asbury Ave.
- Levy Senior Center, 300 Dodge Ave.
- Fleetwood-Jourdain Center, 1655 Foster St.
- Ecology Center, 2024 McCormick Blvd.
- Chandler-Newberger Community Center, 1028 Central St.
Per City Ordinance, all dogs and cats four months of age or older living in Evanston must be licensed annually on a calendar-year basis. Compliance is cross-checked with Cook County Animal and Rabies Control records. The annual cost is $10 if the pet is neutered or spayed, and $15 if not neutered or spayed.
The biggest benefit of registering a pet with the City is the increased chance of being reunited with a lost dog or cat. Applying for the license also reminds you to renew your pet’s annual rabies vaccination. Additionally, pet owners must provide proof of a pet license from the city where they reside to purchase a dog beach pass.
