City Installs New Signs to Encourage Community Participation in Protecting Lake Michigan and Local Waterways

The City’s Water Production Bureau within the Public Works Agency recently installed new educational signs along lakefront bike paths and at local dog parks. The signs are designed to raise awareness about protecting Evanston's drinking water and keeping local waterways clean.

• Greenwood Street Beach
• Lee Street Beach
• South Boulevard Beach
• Dog E-Town in Grey Park

The project is part of the City's ongoing efforts to protect Lake Michigan and the North Shore Channel, which began with the development of Evanston's Source Water Protection Plan in 2022. Because Lake Michigan is the source of drinking water for Evanston residents, the signs aim to help community members understand how everyday actions can affect water quality.
