City of Evanston Announces 2026 Labor Day Holiday Weekend Schedule

The City of Evanston has announced facility closures and service schedules for the 2026 Labor Day holiday weekend, Saturday, September 5, through Monday, September 7.

Refuse Collection

Trash, recycling, and organic waste services will not run on Monday, September 7, and all weekly collections will be delayed by one day. Special pickups are not scheduled for Monday, September 7, but remain scheduled for Wednesday, September 9, and Friday, September 11.

Facilities

•  Evanston Public Library locations will be closed on Monday, September 7.
  
  
• The Fleetwood-Jourdain Community Center, Gibbs-Morrison Cultural Center, Levy Senior Center, the Ecology Center, Prieto Community Center, and Chandler-Newberger Community Center will be closed on Sunday, September 6, and Monday, September 7, except for rentals.
  
  
• Morton City Hall will be closed from Saturday, September 5, through Monday, September 7.
  
  
• The Robert Crown Community Center and Noyes Cultural Arts Center will be open on Saturday, September 5, and Sunday, September 6, for regularly scheduled programming. They will be closed on Monday, September 7. 

Beaches

The swimming season ends after Labor Day. Before you head to the beach, check the City's Lakefront and Beaches page for the status of beaches and swimming availability.

311

The Evanston 311 Center will be closed from Saturday, September 5, through Monday, September 7. Community members can access 311 services online 24/7 at cityofevanston.org/311.

Parking

No street cleaning will occur on Monday, September 7; street cleaning parking restrictions will not be in effect. Parking meters/pay boxes and downtown parking garages will be free on Labor Day. In addition, other restricted areas with signs prohibiting parking except on holidays will be honored.
