Evanston Residents Encouraged to Complete Damage Assessment Survey

The Evanston Emergency Management Agency is collaborating with the Illinois Emergency Management Agency – Office of Homeland Security (IEMA-OHS), the Cook County Department of Emergency Management and Regional Security (EMRS), and the City of Chicago’s Office of Emergency Management and Communications (OEMC) to assess residential storm damage following severe weather, including damaging winds and tornadoes on Monday, July 27, 2026.

We are focusing on:

• Power outages, downed power lines, tree removal emergencies, debris, and localized roadway flooding
• Structural emergencies resulting from the storm system

Residents are encouraged to complete surveys to help compile data on the severity and extent of the damage. This information will assist in determining eligibility for additional funding assistance.

The survey can be accessed in English, Spanish, Polish, Ukrainian, or Mandarin by selecting a preferred language at the top of the survey.

Please note:

• Reporting damages to emergency management is voluntary.
• This survey is not a substitute for reporting damage to your insurance agency.
• Completing the survey does not guarantee disaster relief assistance.

The survey will close on Monday, August 10

The City’s Office of Emergency Management will continue to work with local, county, and state emergency management agencies to analyze the extent of the damage from these storms and will seek any available assistance for affected residents.
