City of Evanston
Home Menu2020 Street Patching Program
Project Summary:
The City of Evanston will be patching large areas of asphalt pavement throughout the city beginning the week of May 18, 2020.
The work is scheduled to be completed within 3 weeks, weather permitting.
During construction, motorists should expect minor delays near work zones as flaggers route traffic around the work crews.
NO PARKING restrictions for this project should be short in duration and specific to the daily work zones. The NO PARKING signs will be posted 48 hours in advance of when the restriction is enforced and will be removed as soon as the work is completed.
Work at most locations should only take a few hours with a few exceptions where larger areas of pavement will be resurfaced. This project will involve removing the top 2 inches of distressed and failing asphalt and replacing it with a fresh, smooth asphalt surface material. Once the asphalt is laid, compacted, and cooled, the street will be opened and ready for traffic.
Ridge Avenue patching may require detours on one or two days mostly affecting northbound traffic between Main St and Lake St. If necessary, detours will be implemented between the hours of 10am and 2pm, and advanced warning will be given at least 48 hours prior to work. Message boards will be placed along the route.
This work is anticipated to improve the condition of nearly 29,200 square yards of pavement at approximately 160 locations across the city.
