The Evanston City Council includes the Mayor and nine City Councilmembers. The Mayor, Councilmembers, and City Clerk serve four-year terms.
The City of Evanston, Illinois is a general purpose municipal government located in Cook County, Illinois. It is a home rule unit, as defined in the 1970 Illinois Constitution, and operates under the Council/Manager form of government.

- City Council meetings are held on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of each month, with the exception of August and December when only one meeting is scheduled.
- City Council meetings are scheduled to begin immediately following the conclusion of the Planning & Development Committee meetings.

- *Monday, May 27, 2024, is Memorial Day.
