VolunteerEvanston has transitioned to a new platform host, Upsquad, which also hosts Evanston WorkforceConnect. This free online platform promotes volunteerism in the Evanston Community by providing a space where community members can discover local volunteer opportunities and offer their talents to the non-profit community in Evanston. VolunteerEvanston is a partnership between the City of Evanston and the Evanston Community Foundation.

New user? Here's how to get started in the VolunteerEvanston community:


Signing up as a volunteer

  • Go to the login page. 

  • First-time users will need to register using the Community Subscription Code: "evanstonforever," which is automatically entered.

  • Next, users will be prompted to select "squads" to join based on their role. In this case, volunteers would select the squad named "Volunteer". 

  • After registering, users can edit their a professional profile, including their experience, education, interests, and more.

  • Download the UpSquad Mobile App from your Apple or Google Play store and sign in.

  • Navigating the platform:   

    • View Volunteer Needs by clicking on "Volunteer" in the menu and filtering by board, committees & task forces, recurring, or pro-bono opportunities.

    • Peruse recent activity by click on "Feed"

    • View other volunteers and organization representatives by clicking on "People"

    • Learn about non-profit organizations that are on the platform by clicking "Organizations".
