What's New in 2018?

Phase 3 of Sheridan Road Construction has Begun!

Project Summary:

Sheridan Road - chicago cropped map2The Sheridan Road – Chicago Ave Improvement Project is a major undertaking to improve multi-modal characteristics of the corridor considering safety of pedestrians, bicyclists, cars and buses.  Sheridan Road is a major north-south arterial connecting Evanston with other North Shore Communities and Northwestern University.  Chicago Avenue is a major north-south arterial connecting Northwestern's campus with downtown Evanston.  This project provides for a separate two-way protected bike lane on east side of Sheridan Road/ Chicago Avenue, designated transit stations/ bus pull-off areas and pedestrian safety enhancements in addition to improving vehicular safety. The construction is planned in three phases over a period of two years (2017 & 2018).  The construction is scheduled for Chicago Avenue from Grove Street to Sheridan Road in spring 2017.  The section of Sheridan Road in front of Northwestern University from Chicago Avenue to Lincoln Street is planned for summer 2017.   The section of Sheridan Road from Lincoln to Village of Wilmette is planned for spring-summer of 2018.

    Dates: March 27, 2017 – June 12, 2017

  • Phase 2:
    Sheridan Road: Chicago/Sheridan Intersection to Lincoln Street
    Dates: June 19, 2017 – September 15, 2017

  • Phase 3:
    Sheridan Road – Lincoln Street to Ridge/Isabella Intersection
    Dates:
     April 1, 2018 – October 19, 2018
