Home MenuFacilities & Fleet Management
In late 2017, the City merged its Fleet services under Facilities Management forming our Facilities and Fleet Management Division. This new division has diligently focused on process improvement, departmental efficiency, and asset management. Fleet and Facilities are two very technical, demanding, and fast-paced divisions in Evanston, which requires technical knowledge and skills from both administrative and field staff.
The Facilities team performs preventative maintenance and repairs, and designs and constructs improvements. Facilities is responsible for approximately 60 buildings throughout the city, as well as the lighting in parks and drinking fountains. The Facilities team works closely with building managers and City staff to maintain the highest level of customer service and continues to fulfill service requests in a timely manner. Projects from this division require working closely with other departments on large scale construction projects and emergency preparedness planning.
The Fleet team works on over 500 pieces of City equipment, performs preventative maintenance, makes in house repairs, plans for work with outside vendors, manages fuel stations and plays a major role in snow operations. The Fleet team works on the planning and procuring of any City vehicles and equipment that needs to be replaced. The Fleet team ensures the continued safety and effectiveness of all City equipment by assessing, maintaining and repairing the necessary materials.
