Filling for Office: 

PRE-FILING NOTICE

NOTICE is hereby given that the office of Clerk Stephanie Mendoza, Local Election Official, will be open from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday only, beginning October 21, 2024, through October 28, 2024, for the purpose of accepting candidate petitions or certificates for the 2025 Consolidated Election. If a primary election is necessary, it will be held on February 25, 2025, and the general election will be held on April 1, 2025, for the following offices:

 • Mayor

• City Clerk

• City Council Members (Wards 1-9)

  • Statement of Candidacy: Nonpartisan (SBE Form P-1A)

  • Loyalty Oath (optional): All candidates (SBE Form P-1C)   

  • Fair Campaign Practices Act (voluntary): Filed with the State Board of Elections.

  •  Statement of Economic Interest Click here:

WITHDRAWAL FROM CANDIDACY

 

Any candidate who has filed petitions may withdraw their candidacy. The withdrawal must be in writing, signed by the candidate, dated, and notarized. The written withdrawal must be submitted to the same election official who received the original petitions not later than the date for certification of candidates for the ballot. No candidate name withdrawn in accordance with the provisions of the Election Code shall be printed upon the ballots. If the request for withdrawal is received after the date for certification of the candidates for the ballot, then the votes cast for the withdrawn candidate are invalid and shall not be reported by the election authority. (10 ILCS 5/10-7)

 

Requests for Withdrawal should be submitted using SBE Form P-25.
