The North Regional Major Crimes Task Force (N.O.R.T.A.F.),  Major Crash Assistance Team (M.C.A.T.) serves thirteen communities in Northern Illinois – The City of Evanston, Village of Glencoe, Village of Glenview, Village of Kenilworth, Village of Lincolnwood, Village of Morton Grove, Village of Niles, Village of Northbrook, Village of Northfield, Village of Skokie, Village of Wheeling, Village of Wilmette and Village of Winnetka.  The N.O.R.T.A.F. Major Crash Assistance Team (M.C.A.T.) exists to assist member agencies with the investigation of fatal and severe injury motor vehicle crashes. 

MCAT TruckM.C.A.T. is dedicated to providing a rapid response and thorough crash investigations to member agencies.  M.C.A.T. will identify, collect, document and report the crash scene data.  Team members will use technical information received as part of the investigation to create, only when possible, a clear and unbiased conclusion of the factors and events of the entire crash.  M.C.A.T. will aid the requesting agency with the technical data necessary to identify and prosecute offenders if a violation of law occurs as it relates to crash investigations.  M.C.A.T. will use the team’s expertise to provide a complete detail of the occurrence, safeguarding the constitutional rights of every person, and at all times work with the integrity and professionalism necessary to build public respect and support for law enforcement.

cops-investigating-img_3414N.O.R.T.A.F. M.C.A.T. is divided into three teams consisting of one team leader (crash reconstructionist), two crash investigators and crash forensic specialists.  The team is supervised by the Task Force Commander and Operations Commander.
