Evanston is set on the shores of Lake Michigan and is home to six public swimming beaches. Read below for beach hours, locations, and admission information. See you at the beach!

Beach Status

During certain conditions, swimming is prohibited at one or more of Evanston’s beaches, but admittance to the beach (sandy area) is still allowed. At other times, both the water and the beach areas are closed for your safety.

Lighthouse Beach

Hours

May 25 to June 7, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

June 8 to August 4, 10:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.

August 5 to August 30, 10:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

August 31 to Sept. 2, 10:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

    Lincoln Street Beach

    Managed by Northwestern University.

    Clark Street Beach

    Hours

    May 25 to June 7, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

    June 8 to August 4, 10:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.*

    August 5 to August 30, 10:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

    August 31 to Sept. 2, 10:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

    Greenwood Street Beach
