The Tempestry Project
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, this gallery - originally intended to hang Earth Day 2020 at the Noyes Cultural Arts Center - has been moved online and can be viewed as photos below.
The Tempestry Project is a global S.T.E.A.M. movement to visualize climate change using textile bar graphs - a.k.a. Tempestries. Beginning Earth Day 2019, volunteers in Evanston, Illinois, have been creating a collection of Tempestries. The goal: to illustrate Chicagoland temperature data from 1949-2018. Each participant knitted or crocheted at least one year/Tempestry.
