The Mayor has created the Reimagining Public Safety Committee. (Resolution 58-R-21The Committee will review the City’s efforts relative to public safety, focusing on:

  • Funding allocation.
  • Police department functions and personnel allocation.
  • Internal department policies and external accountability.
  • The alignment of crime reduction tactics with strategic goals.

The Reimagining Public Safety Committee will pursue a robust community engagement effort to ensure that the experiences, points of view, and priorities of Evanston community members are incorporated in its work, and will access information and data assembled by the Evanston Police Department and other City entities.

The Committee consists of Fifteen members who serve without compensation and include the Mayor of Evanston, who also will serve as Chair of the Committee.

The Committee will meet Bi-Weekly on Tuesdays at 4 p.m. starting on June 8, 2021.
