The Animal Welfare Board shall review monthly reports from the Animal Organization and the Animal Warden to set priorities and give feedback to the Council on issues regarding animal control and the City animal shelter. The board will also coordinate fundraising efforts for the Animal Shelter Fund. 

The Evanston Animal Shelter and Adoption Center is committed to providing compassionate and humane care for Evanston's abandoned, abused, and relinquished animals and finding them homes through rehabilitation, foster care, adoption, and rescue organizations.  We serve the community as a proactive resource for education, counseling, and support. 

We fulfill this mission by striving to provide shelter animals with medical and physical care, enrichment, training, and rehabilitation to ensure that animals have the best chance of successful adoption.

Our commitment also includes the following goals:  programs such as low-cost spay/neuter and vaccination; trap, neuter, and release for feral cats; support to senior citizens and other vulnerable populations who can no longer afford to keep their pets; and public education and counseling regarding responsible pet care.

NOTE: On Monday, July 13, 2015, City Council approved the name change of the board from the Board of Animal Control to the Animal Welfare Board.
