Leaf Blower Ordinance

View the City's ordinance regarding gasoline- and propane-powered leaf blowers, which includes permitted times for seasonal usage and fines for violation. There are no seasonal restrictions for electric-powered leaf blowers.

As of April 1, 2023, the use of gasoline- and propane-powered leaf blowers is prohibited in Evanston.

Leaf Blower Pledge

The City is asking landscaping companies to pledge to comply with the City's updated leaf blower ordinance. View and sign the pledge (español) and return it by email to health@cityofevanston.org or through U.S. mail to the attention of Ike Ogbo, Health and Human Services Department, 2100 Ridge Ave., Evanston, IL, 60201.

Businesses That Have Taken the Pledge

The following businesses have pledged to comply with Evanston’s leaf blower ordinance; to inform all staff working in Evanston of the rules regarding leaf blowers; and to respect the quality of life of Evanston community members by minimizing the noise created by landscaping activities.
