Celebrate Pride Month with Community Events

 

DIY Mini Pride Float Take-home Kit - Sunday, June 4 All day - Evanston Library Robert Crown Branch

Stop by the library and pick up a kit with everything you need to make your own pride float. Bring it back when it’s done and it'll be added it to the library's Pride Month display!

Youth Car Parade - Sunday, June 4, 1 p.m. - Start at ETHS

Line the streets on Sunday, June 4 to support Evanston’s LGBTQIA+ Youth as they parade past in cars to celebrate Pride Month in June. Check out the full route. This event is put together by Evanston Pride, Inc.

Have a snack, listen to music, and make your own mini Pride float, then take your wonderful decoration home or leave them at the library to join the Pride display.

Queer Maker's Market #1 - Saturday June 10, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. - Evanston SPACE (1245 Chicago Ave)

Bring your creativity and all your friends and family to Evanston Pride Queer Maker's Market #1, and help support the full spectrum of local LGBTQIA+ community members.

Candle Lighting Ceremony - Sunday June 11, 7 p.m. - St. Paul Park

With a Rose & Candle Ceremony, Evanston Price honors the LGBTQIA+ lives lost to violence, suicide and Invisibility on Sunday, June 11.

Teen Pride Party - Wednesday, June 14, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. - Robert Crown Reading Garden

Learn waacking and voguing from a professional dancer, strut your designs in a fashion show, and dance at this night celebrating friends, fabulousness and the freedom to be who you are. Register.

Better Off Read Book Group: Smahtguy, The Life and Times of Barney Frank - Tuesday, June 20, 6:30 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. - Robert Crown Reading Garden

Read and discuss the graphic novel biography about Barney Frank, one of the first gay and out members of Congress and a frontline defender of civil rights.

Drag Queen Storytime - Saturday, June 24, 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. - Robert Crown Reading Garden

Pride Party & Storytime - Saturday, June 24, 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. - Booked Bookstore (506 Main St)

The Main-Dempster Mile is thrilled to close out the month with a Pride Party with bestselling author, activist and journalist Juno Dawson to celebrate her new book, YOU NEED TO CHILL!, which is out (and in store!) now. There will be giveaways, a story time and signing with Juno, and rainbow crafts galore! RSVP requested. 

 
Law at the Library: LGBTQIA+ and the Law - Tuesday, June 27, 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. - Zoom

Explore legal issues faced by the LGBTQIA+ community. Each Law at the Library program features a presentation by an experienced attorney, followed by a brief question-and-answer session, in partnership with the Chicago Bar Association and the Chicago Public Library. Register at least 24 hours before the event to get the meeting link.
