Nathan Kipnis, FAIA, architect of Evanston’s first LEED Platinum home, will discuss the challenges involved with designing a home that uses 75% less energy than a standard home. Mr. Kipnis will also speak about his evolving philosophy for sustainable and resilient design, at both the building and community scale. Mr. Kipnis’ body of design work has consistently looked to the future by starting with a thorough understanding of how historic buildings responded climatically to their context, and then integrating modern technology and design concepts to create ultra high efficiency buildings.
