The seminar will review how to file a property tax assessment appeal and other areas of interest to property tax payers. Homeowners can also visit the Cook County Assessor at the Skokie Courthouse, 5600 W. Old Orchard Road, Room #149, Skokie, Illinois 60077. The Assessor's office in Skokie can be reached at 847-470-7237. The Assessor is now also accepting appeals online at www.cookcountyassessor.com.

Commissioner Suffredin reiterated that the Cook County Assessor's new assessments are to be in effect for the next 3 years unless you appeal. In Evanston, the median rise in residential assessments is 25.04%. If your property tax assessment went up more than 25.05%, then you will pay more in taxes. Please come to our workshop and appeal your assessment. In about 5 months, we will have a workshop with the Cook County Board of Review where you can appeal the final assessor's assessment.

Constituents are also welcome to contact Commissioner Suffredin's office at 847-864-1209 to schedule a personal meeting to discuss specific property tax concerns.

The deadline to appeal to the Assessor is March 25, 2016.
