On Saturday, November 18, from 10 a.m. to noon, join an adult learning community for "Lakefront Learning" to study water, a defining feature of our geography and of our social, economic, political, cultural and spiritual lives.
During this session, Draining Chicago and Evanston: Sewer and stormwater history, current issues and new ideas, author and engineer Dick Lanyon will discuss his most recent book, Draining Chicago: The Early City and the North Area, as well as stormwater and green infrastructure practices in Evanston. Dick retired as executive director of the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District and has been immersed in Chicago-area water issues for 50 years.
