What the Lady Wants: A Portrait of Chicago and Marshall Fields in the Gilded Age

Thursday, September 28, 2017, 7 p.m.  
Doors open and wine and appetizer reception starts at 6:30 p.m.

The Evanston History Center (EHC) invites community members to join them for an illustrated presentation by bestselling author Renée Rosen, who will discuss the setting of and history behind her book, What the Lady Wants: A Novel of Marshall Field and the Gilded Age.

Rosen’s portrait of Chicago traces the dramatic lives of Marshall Field and socialite Delia Spencer as the city transforms itself out of the Great Fire into the stunning setting that hosted the 1893 World's Fair. Rosen is also the author of Windy City Blues, White Collar Girl, Dollface, as well as the young adult novel, Every Crooked Pot.  She lives in Chicago.  A book signing will follow the presentation.

Admission: $10, payable at the door. EHC Members free. EHC membership information and sign-up available online and at the event.
