Civic Bites

CivicBitesLogoMeet Mayor Hagerty at Bagel Art Cafe, 615 Dempster St., for some coffee and conversation! A portion of the event's proceeds will benefit the Work Ethic Program.

Civic Bites is a series of events intended to showcase Evanston restaurants, breweries, bars and businesses. Once every month or two, Mayor Hagerty will choose a space and invite people to meet him there to discuss local issues, ideas and concerns. A portion of proceeds from the sales of each event will go toward a non-profit of the establishment owner’s choosing. Civic Bites is a way to combine some of many good things in Evanston – business, philanthropy and civic engagement.

Bagel Art is a cafe on Dempster Street serving breakfast and lunch in the form of bagels, sandwiches and salads. It is owned and operated by 3rd Ward residents Vince and Whitney Doyle.

The Evanston Work Ethic (WE) Program provides mentoring, work-ready training, tuition stipends and financial aid access to ambitious Evanston Township High School students who will pursue and enroll in an accredited vocational or technical program. The WE Program recognizes that all ambitious students deserve respect, support and access to training/certification as they prepare for a chosen profession. The goal of the Evanston Work Ethic Program (WE Program) is to help ETHS students improve their career and technical employment outcomes while meeting the needs of local employers and growing sectors and industries.
