National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live. This year's event will take place on Tuesday, August 1.
- Evanston Public Library, 1703 Orrington Ave., 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. - Enjoy Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math (STEAM) activities outside of the Church Street entrance.
- Evanston Animal Shelter, 2310 Oakton St., 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Bring the whole family for games, snacks and fun. Dog-friendly dogs are welcome.
- Twiggs Park, Dodge Avenue at Simpson Street, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. - This 5th Ward event will feature Leon Rogers from WGCI, house music and family fun, including a barbecue, face painting, games and nature tours.
- Penny Park, Lake Street and Ashland Avenue, 7 p.m. - Enjoy a Starlight Movie in the Park, Jumanji. Activities start at 7 p.m., and the movie will begin at dusk (approximately 8:15 p.m.). Food trucks will be available.
- Cartwright Park, 3300 Noyes St., 6 p.m. - Enjoy a neighborhood meet and greet, food and drinks.
- Kamen Park, South Boulevard and Barton Avenue, 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. This 9th Ward event will feature food trucks, art, a DJ and more.
- Howard Street and Custer/Damen Avenues, 5:30 p.m. Brummel Park neighbors will come together for a community walk along Howard Street. Afterwards, stop by Kamen Park for 8th and 9th Ward National Night Out festivities.
