Join the Evanston Police Department as they support Special Olympic Athletes by proudly carrying the torch through the City. Come run with us or ride your bike. Families are welcome!
The torch starts its day bright and early in Winthrop Harbor. It will wind through the North Shore, finally being passed to EPD officers by Wilmette police officers between 10 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. at Whole Foods Market, 2748 Green Bay Road in Evanston.
Escorted by the Traffic Unit, EPD will carry the torch along Green Bay Road and through downtown Evanston, ending with a celebration lunch at the Evanston Police Station, 1454 Elmwood Avenue.
If you would like to participate in the Torch Run, the entry fee is $10 (you will receive a free 2017 Torch Run Cap or 2017 Torch Run T-shirt with the $10 entry fee). Otherwise, you may purchase a 2017 Torch Run T-shirt for $20 or a 2017 Torch Run Cap for $15 in the parking lot at Whole Foods on Green Bay Road prior to the start of the run or at the Evanston Police Station after the run has finished.
