Cool jazz, champagne brunch to benefit ETHS students through Work Ethic (WE) program

How ‘bout some cool jazz to greet spring?  How ‘bout a benefit that helps high school-age students with scholarships and mentoring?   How ‘bout some fun and food?

The Forrest E. Powell Foundation will host a Jazz Champagne Brunch on Sunday, April 9, at the Hilton Garden Inn, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., featuring The Bobby Broom Trio, champagne and a mouth-watering brunch.  Admission to the event is $50 in advance or $60 at the door. The Hilton Garden Inn is located at 1818 Maple Ave, Evanston.

The Foundation recently formalized the WORK ETHIC (WE)Program, a program which assists young people who do not initially plan to attend college but are looking at other opportunities to join the workforce.  Candidates for the program may attend trade schools, apprenticeships or short-term training programs such as automotive technology, cosmetology, culinary, healthcare or manufacturing programs.  

The first eight WE students were introduced recently and have begun relationships with their new mentors.  The mentees will be special guests at the jazz brunch event.
