Join the Evanston Fire Department and Evanston Police Department for a First Responder Open House on Sunday, October 13, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Fire Department Headquarters, 909 Lake Street.
This event will take place on the heals of Fire Prevention Week, October 6 - 12. All are welcome to attend this fun-filled, annual event. Hot dogs and chips will also be provided, free of charge.
Planned activities include:
- Children's firefighter challenge
- Police and fire apparatus displays
- Auto extrication demonstration
- Specialized rescue demonstration
- Kitchen safety demonstration
- Side-by-side sprinkler/flashover demonstration
- Fire and life safety education for the entire family
This year, the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) is celebrating its 102nd year of Fire Prevention Week. This year's theme is "Smoke alarms: make them work for you!" The campaign works to educate everyone about the importance of having working smoke alarms in the home.
