Unplug Illinois Day: "The Great Evanston Nature Walk"

Get to know Evanston's most amazing natural sites, as we celebrate Unplug Illinois Day with "the Great Evanston Nature Walk" on Sat., July 15 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.! Participants will receive a map of natural areas to visit in Evanston. Each natural site will have fun, free nature activities led by Ecology Center staff and natural area stewards. Guided activities will include fishing, birding, mindfulness walks, scavenger hunts, and more! For each natural area that participants visit and check-in at, they will be entered into a raffle for the chance to win a kayak, camping tents, hiking gear, a cooler backpack, grilling supplies, and other fun prizes! Register online to receive your Evanston nature map. Visit each of the natural areas at any time from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. or join free guided activities below:
  • Lovelace Park - Fishing (10 a.m. to noon)
  • Perkins Wood - Bird Walk (10 a.m. to noon)
  • Ladd Arboretum - Tree Walk (noon to 2 p.m.)
  • Harbert Park - Mindfulness Walk (noon to 2 p.m.)
  • Clark St. Beach Bird Sanctuary- Birding (2 p.m. to 4 p.m.)
  • Lighthouse Beach - Dune Scavenger Hunt (2 p.m. to 4 p.m.)
