EPD: Catalytic Converter Marking Event

The Evanston Police Department will host a Catalytic Converter Anti-Theft Marking Event on Sat., June 24, from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., at the ETHS parking lot (east lot across from the front of the high school). Registration is required.

At the event, EPD officers will use spray paint to mark the catalytic converter under your vehicle, making it less desirable for potential theft. Paint will only be visible from underneath the vehicle, and will not affect its operation. This event is free and open to those who live in Evanston or work at ETHS. Proof of residency or ETHS employment will be required, and all participants will have to fill out/sign a liability waiver at the event.

NOTE: To ensure that vehicles most frequently targeted for catalytic converter theft are prioritized, this event is limited to vehicle models from year 2019 or older from the following brands:

- Chevrolet
- Ford
- Honda
- Hyundai
- Jeep
- Kia
- Mitsubishi
- Nissan
- Toyota
