The Main-Dempster Mile, in partnership with the Kitchen Table Stories Project, Kids Create Change and Evanston Pride, the district will be host to a Lunar New Year Celebration on January 22. The celebration will feature a traditional Lion Dance performed by the Seven Star Lion Dance Group, and Wish Envelopes in the tradition of Hóngbāo (lucky red envelopes for special occasions).

Celebration Schedule:
3 p.m. to 4 p.m. - Lantern Making for Kids, Pink & Tan, 604 Dempster St
3 p.m. to 5 p.m. - Hot Tea available at Dozika Pan-Asian, 601 Dempster St
4:15 p.m. - Speakers, including Josina Morita and Mayor Daniel Biss, 500 Block of Dempster
4:30 p.m. - Lion Dance, 500 Block of Dempster 
4:45 p.m. - Wish Envelopes available to pull, 500 Block of Dempster
