Levy Lecture Series: Megan Wells recounts Oscar Wilde's "The Canterville Ghost"

  • Date: 09/15/2020 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM
Enjoy a performance by Megan Wells, Storyteller and Performance Artist, as she recounts Oscar Wilde's "The Canterville Ghost". Not your typical ghost story, this one is filled with humor, pathos and a poignant ending. The Canterville Ghost was first printed in 1887. Oscar Wilde tells the tale of an American family, the Otises--Mr. and Mrs. Otis, older son, Washington, older daughter, Virgina, and the younger twins--who move into an old English country house, Canterville Chase, despite having been warned that it is haunted. The ghost of Sir Simon de Canterville promptly shows up, but the family refuses to be intimidated, leaving Sir Simon feeling...humiliated. Why is Sir Simon inhabiting his former home? What will the Otis family do now that he has made himself known to them? Therein lies the tale Megan will tell, in what promises to be an entertaining, funny, and dramatic performance.
