Evanston Police and Fire Foundation Annual Golf Outing

The Evanston Police and Fire Foundation (EPFF) will hold their fourth annual Golf Outing on August 22, but with a twist. EPFF invites any level of golfer to join them in a day of fun-filled golf at Evanston's Canal Shores Golf Course, followed by a party with music, dancing, food, and more.

The Golf Extravaganza will kick off with a continental breakfast at 10 a.m. Then at 11 a.m., there's the 'shot-gun' start to the golf (foursomes will be sent out to each hole and then play the entire course from there). While the golfers enjoy the unique challenges of the Canal Shores course, they will have extra challenges and prizes from some of the sponsors. Play will end as close to 4 p.m. as possible.

Golfing will be followed by a special dinner provided by Evanston's 'Little Mexican Caf'.' The awarding of prizes and raffle drawings will also happen at that time. Around 6 p.m., the party will start and continue to 9 p.m.

The party is open to all for a donation of $25 to support the work of EPFF. A cash bar will be included in the celebration, as well as hors d'oeuvres from Evanston's 'Ten Mile House.' Jim Gordon, EPFF's Executive director and event organizer said, 'Even if you don't play golf, join us for the party and support the phenomenal first-responders of our great city'.

EPFF, is a non-profit, 100% volunteer organization that raises funds in support of the brave women and men who put their lives at risk every day to ensure the safety of the citizens of Evanston. EPFF has provided funding for a wide range of items like a bullet resistant vest for Rony, Evanston PD's K9, to a state of the art Incident Board for the Evanston FD.

In addition, EPFF helps fund the Evanston Citizens Police Academy and the Evanston Citizens Fire Academy. Both academies are open to all residents. By using hands-on instruction and interaction with working officers and firefighters, the academies provide personalized awareness of the daily lives of our Police Officers and Firefighter-Paramedics (all Evanston firefighters are fully qualified paramedics). This level of interaction creates a more knowledgeable community and gives the officers an insight into the lives of those they are sworn to protect. When any two communities begin to understand each other, a whole new level of cooperation and communication happens.
