Frances Willard Sculpture Reception
On Friday, August 26, at 7 p.m., community members are invited to celebrate the installation of a bronze bust of Frances Willard in the first floor lobby of the Morton Civic Center, 2100 Ridge Ave.
The Evanston Arts Council will receive the sculpture, created by sculptor Loredo Taft in 1931, on loan from the National Women's Christian Temperance Union and the Frances Willard House. The event will feature the reading of a prize-winning essay by Aela Morris, and remarks by Mr. Glen Madeja about the history of the piece and Ms. Willard's role in the community. Cake and punch will be served. All are encouraged to wear a vintage hat to celebrate the occasion.
