The City of Evanston has announced facility closures and service schedules for the 2019 Labor Day holiday weekend, Saturday, August 31 through Monday, September 2.
Refuse Collection
No collections will occur on Monday, September 2. Monday through Thursday trash, recycling and yard waste collections will occur one day later in the week than usual. Friday condo recycling collections will occur on Friday, September 6.
Facilities
The Lorraine H. Morton Civic Center will be closed August 31 through September 2. All Evanston Public Library locations will be closed on September 1 and 2.
The Chandler-Newberger Center will be closed August 31 through September 2. The Evanston Ecology Center will be closed September 1 and 2. The Fleetwood-Jourdain Community Center, Gibbs-Morrison Cultural Center, Levy Senior Center, Noyes Cultural Arts Center and Robert Crown Center will be closed September 2.
Beaches
All Evanston public swimming beaches will be open August 31 through September 2 from 10:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
311
The Evanston 311 Center will be closed on Monday, September 2. The 311 Center will also be closed on Saturday, August 31 and Sunday, September 1 according to its normal operating schedule.
Parking
No street cleaning will occur on Monday, September 2; street cleaning parking restrictions will not be in effect. Parking meters/pay boxes and downtown parking garages will be free on Labor Day. In addition, other restricted areas that have signs that prohibit parking except on holidays will be honored.
