Opening Reception for "Undesign the Redline"

Community members are invited to join the City of Evanston for an opening reception of the"Undesign the Redline" exhibit on Monday, Aug. 26, from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. on the 2nd Floor of the Morton Civic Center. The evening will begin with opening remarks by Mayor Hagerty followed by a panel discussion surrounding the topic of redlining in Evanston. At the reception, author Linda Gartz will also introduce her memoir, “Redlined,” about  growing up in a redlined neighborhood. Profits from sales of the book at the exhibit will be donated to the Evanston Community Foundation.

"Undesign the Redline" is an educational exhibit that connects the intentional and systematic racial housing segregation of the 1930s to political and social issues of today, through the powerful narratives of the people and communities affected by redlining and its legacy.
