Mental Health First Aid is an eight-hour course to increase knowledge of mental health issues, reduce stigmatization, and encourage supportive reactions toward individuals experiencing behavioral health crises.
You are likely to encounter a friend, family member, coworker, or neighbor having an emotional, mental or substance use-related crisis. Just like learning CPR enables you to provide initial help when someone is having a heart attack, Mental Health First Aid enables you to detect and provide initial help for someone experiencing a psychiatric or substance use crisis. The training helps to identify, understand, and respond to signs of addictions and mental illnesses. Individuals who participate receive information regarding psychiatric symptoms, treatment, and ways in which a person in distress can be supportively approached. At successful completion of the training, participants will receive a completion certificate and the manual used during the training.
This course is supported by a $25 training fee and is open to a maximum of 25 participants. Please RSVP by May 10, 2019, by registering here or by emailing info@evanstoncpaaa.com.
