In an exciting change of pace, NSCS welcomes local singer-songwriter Andrew Calhoun and an ensemble cast in a compelling performance entitled “The Liberty Lines.” Andrew and the ensemble will be joined by NSCS frequent collab-orator, the accomplished composer and pianist Thomas W. Jefferson, who will perform his original settings of spirituals. The moving, two-act program features folk songs and plantation spirituals interwoven with readings and first-person narratives. Come and witness the history of the Underground Railroad, traced as a grassroots movement of conscience which spurred the Civil War.
