Evanston's public buildings will be brightened with local artwork thanks to the City's new Public Art Loan (PAL) program, which matches Evanston artists with City-owned facilities to display their work. The City of Evanston will begin weekly residential yard waste collections for the 2016 season on Monday, April 4. Yard waste will be collected on residents' regular refuse and recycling collection days through Thursday, December 1. The City offers two options to dispose of yard waste: Purchase and fill a 95-gallon yard waste cart. These reusable carts do not require the use of bags. Ridership on the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) Purple Line increased between 2005 and 2014, according to the most recent information available from the CTA.' The City of Evanston will soon begin rehabilitation of the combined sewer that follows the Mulford Street right-of-way starting at Dodge Avenue and extending west to the southwest corner of James Park (see project map below). The Evanston Fire Department is pleased to release its 2015 Annual Report. The department maintains a full-time professional staff of 110 members, which includes 107 sworn firefighters across all ranks, and three civilian support members. The City of Evanston's Public Works Agency has announced its 2016 alley maintenance schedule. Each year, starting in the spring, Evanston's more than 300 unpaved alleys are periodically graded by the City. This is done to eliminate potholes and ruts caused by vehicles, weather and other factors. The process improves travel and reduces puddling.
